Building Character
Building Champions

Our mission is to foster a dynamic and inclusive rugby community that empowers students through teamwork, discipline, and resilience. We strive to develop not only skilled athletes but also well-rounded individuals by providing exceptional coaching, mentorship, and opportunities for personal growth. Through our commitment to sportsmanship and community engagement, we aim to inspire a lifelong love for the game while promoting physical fitness and camaraderie among our players.

The current rugby program, Mavericks Rugby Club at La Costa Canyon High School began in the fall of 2012 in conjunction with the local recreational youth rugby Club, the Coastal Dragons.  The Girls Mavericks Rugby program was subsequently started in 2015.  Both Clubs have continued to get high level of participation and have flourished.

Recent Accomplishments:

2024 Boys Mavericks Rugby Club won the Division II SCIRF (Southern California Interscholastic Rugby Federation) league beating Mira Costa High School.

2024 Girls Mavericks Rugby Club won the SCYR (Southern California Youth Rugby) High School 7s Championship.

We hope to continue with a great program of student athletes, parents and supporters. We'll be fielding a Varsity and JV side of 15s for boys and a Varsity side of 7s for our girls!   Our underlying fundamental goal is to continue to grow the sport and see rugby as an official school sport, sanctioned by the California Interscholastic Federation.
